I have been working professionally as an acoustic engineer for the last 10 years.
Unfortunately, the amount of free and/or open source programs is very slim.
The ones that are on the market are extremely limited, difficult to work with, buggy or simply just have an horrible interface.

The goal of this project is to develop something that would be easy accessible for everyone (limited for private use only).
Yet have all possibilities and freedom to completely change or add extra features, graphs, filters (passive, active and digital). Think of an hybrid between a CAD/Spice program in combination with text fields/menus.

What I am looking for, are programmers (I think 1 - 4 would be enough??) who have some knowledge about filters, DSP, audio, loudspeakers etc, or are willing to gain that knowledge.
Are strong in mathematics and have a good sense of what is needed for engineers.
I also expect that you will come with your own ideas and show initiative, since I ‘only’ have some basic programming skills (mostly in programming ucontrollers/electronics etc).
Key here is to make something that’s easy to use, so the interface is very important.

    What’s in for you?
Unfortunately I don’t have the funds to pay you monthly. So see this as a big boost in your resume (which I can tell from a team leader/head of department point of view, is even more important). Of course also just the fun, learn some extra skills (from a professional ;) ) and the idea of making the open source community greater.
Maybe in the future there will be something more, but I have to work that out first.

    What’s my role in this?
I will provide the needed information, articles, papers etc. Check if everything is working correctly and being technical lead on the engineering side (helping with formulas, filters, definitions etc).
Obviously I am also leading the team.
Btw, don’t expect me to be strict with planning, micro managment etc. I expect that you can work on your own or (if more people are interested) you can sort these things out together.

I think it would be great to make this multi platform/OS if possible. If that’s to difficult, it should be made for Windows (and hopefully Wine compatible). The kind of programming language is up to you (obviously my preference is C, but if that’s asking for to much trouble it’s not a big deal)

If you’re interested, feel free to contact me. From there on we can make a rough planning and see what is reasonable (time-wise)

    Hi there.

I would like to be a part of this project.
I am a C++ developer with ~2 years experience (1 year on the record), with a deep interest in DSP and GUI programming.
I've defended my masters thesis last year, and the title was "Digital Sound processing algorithms".
Currently I am mostly involved in GUI programming and AppDev, and I believe this experience should be benefecial as well, after all your app will need a front-end as well.
I'm also working on a personal Qt/C++ project, it a cross-platform file manager inspired by Total Commander, which I miss a lot in Linux.

Let me know how I can contact you.

    Hi,

I have been programming in C # for over 4 years. I studied automation and robotics, I liked C and problems with signals. I would like to refresh and enhance my skills and abilities. In the past, mathematics, the laplace and furrier transformer was no stranger to me. I'm currently implementing desktop and web applications, but there are no challenges in this. I don't remember much, but I will be happy to learn everything again. I am looking for something more ambitious, so I will gladly join your team.

    Contact to me: mn.mateusznowak@gmail.com

    Hello Bab!
I am a game development student who is looking to try some "normal" software dev. I've been programming since approx. 2011, but I've never been on a bigger project and I would like to spend some time practicing my programming and team skills.

I also like math and have basic knowledge about acoustics. I'm mainly programming in java and c++ but are willing to learn new languages if needed.

I do still have to semesters left in school and two kids so time might be a bit cramped, however I think I can be of some help somewhere in the codebase.

My email is linco95@gmail.com if you want to get back to me.

I just would like to give an update about the fact that we are still looking for people who can help us out.
Progress is going steady but slowly.
At this moment we have three people working on the GUI, graphics and programming.

We could use some extra hnds in programming and implementing the math functions.
