Approximately one year and one day ago (just strikes my fancy that
that's the last date in the thread), I asked some questions regarding
how one would go about rendering to OpenGL using fonttools. The entry
in my todo list finally got to the top, so in case anyone else is
interested, here are the two modules I have developed:
Outline/Contour Extraction from FontTools fonts (_toolsfont):
Extracts glyph descriptions from .ttf files, converts quadratics to
polylines, should handle a significant fraction of real world latin
fonts. Any suggestions on areas that might be handled better
certainly welcome. At the moment, composite glyphs are expanded
"inline", for expedience in programming.
OpenGL Rendering of Extracted Contours (toolsfont):
Uses the extracted and expanded outlines provided by _toolsfont
above to create tesselated "face" polygons. The outlines are also
used to create extrusions using GLE, and to create "outline"
Anyway, hope someone finds it interesting,
