First of all, get to know I'm a newbie in using CygWin.
I downloaded and unpacked the following packages (trying to be
a minimalist):
X11/xorg-x11-bin
X11/xorg-x11-bin-dlls
X11/xorg-x11-base
X11/xorg-x11-xwin
X11/freetype2
X11/xorg-x11-fnts
cygwin
zlib
libxml2
libiconv/libiconv2
libpng/libpng12
Using the batch:
PATH=%PATH%;c:\usr\bin;c:\usr\X11R6\bin
XWin.exe
the test window (finally) arised.
But the fontforge didn't, here's the log:
C:\Program Files\FontForge>FontForge.bat
C:\Program Files\FontForge>PATH=C:\WIN98;C:\WIN98\COMMAND;c:\usr\bin;c:\usr\X11R6\bin
C:\Program Files\FontForge>FontForge.exe

You must start X11 before you can start /cygdrive/c/PROGRA~1/FONTFO~1/FONTFO~1
X11 may be obtained from the cygwin site in a seperate package.
So what is the "seperate" pekidj zat I niid tu ran ze softwere?
The author's documentation is quite diffusive on the installation under
windows, looks like George testing fontforge under his lovely *nux,
hates C++, lives in the good-old-70's, and that's all enough for him.
