You're quite correct. The Open Source aureal driver is
missing some code. It's mixed (I suspect in violation of
the GPL) with closed-source code in the available
distribution. To keep the FOLK code "legal", the
closed-source code has been omitted. I'm hoping the
necessary code'll get opened up, or a 3rd-party version
will appear.
