Ok - so the first full checkin of the UI redesign has been commited (r490 for those of you keeping score at home). If you've updated recently, you'll have been enticed by the very pretty login page, but then reminded of the white-horridness that was FOF. This is no more. This revision covers all the major aspects of the UI change, and basic functionality of FoFRedux still exists. Nothing in the "engine" was changed, so there is no expected danger to your database with this upgrade. But as with any dev version, YMMV, Author not responsible for lost data, run this at your own risk, always use protection (i.e. run on a test DB) The next big steps are to 1) hopefully have Walker or Khaled get the current version and tweak up a couple of layout/colors that I couldn't get quite right. Some buttons are out of place (or could use pretty image buttons) and some of the FamFam silk icons need their color-shifted to match Khaled's original design. 2) Add the Prototype.js Javascript library and start tying in Asyncronous functionality 3) Clean up the "view" break-out some more. This UI change tried to change as little as possible along the way, but small steps were made, like making view/feed_item.php which is a single view of a feed (imagine that). This would be nice to break out for more elements and forms 4) Feeds are not grouped by category on the front page (they're all animation) so will need to sort feeds and break them up by category listing. Let me know if you have any major problems. There are many small bugs that I'm sure exist that will get corrected as the above 4 actions are finished. Thanks everyone! You realise how excited I am now. I'm downloading it all right now and trying to sort it all out :). Hey all, Just installed it and having a look around at the things that need to be done. First off I just want to say thanks to be Walker and Andrew for getting it all together and putting it on the page so to speak. Now it's just time for refining and tweaking, another month of hammering and we should be ready for the next level . All extremely exciting stuff to be honest. I propose I make a list of the things that need to be sorted out and then we can tick them off one by one. Maybe get a backpack page and just put everything in there so that everyone can see what needs to be done. Everyone up for using backpack or should I use just the mailing list? I'm cool with either as long as it's easy for everyone to refer to it and it's clear as to what still needs to be done. Thoughts? Major items should be put on the FoFRedux bug items in Sourceforge, small items can just be posted to the list. Examples: Big: Add ajax to marking/saving items Small: aligning the Add button on the feeds form to fit inline Andrew On 8/6/06, Broken Kode <bro...@gm...> wrote: > Hey all, > > Just installed it and having a look around at the things that need to be > done. Thanks for getting the new ui checked in. I have a request though. Can we have the feed count (31 new items) etc, back where it was? To the left of the feed name. Right now when looking at the feeds you have to traverse the whole back back and forth for each feed to see what feed has new articles. This makes looking at the page tedious and tiresome. -Miles |

Correct -these are not linked in yet. There was never a design for these pages either. hi guys, just a quick note from me...i'm still super busy with work and don't want to take time to start implementing something i wouldn't have time to finish properly. in any case, the redesign looks great so far...i'm impressed, and i think it's definitely a huge step in the right direction! /evan On 8/7/06, Kevin <ke...@dr...> wrote: > Andrew Turner wrote: > > Ok - so the first full checkin of the UI redesign has been commited > > (r490 for those of you keeping score at home).
