FODB-Daemon

Hi All,

Just another update, FODB daemon program has been running on all of my computers for awhile now and seems to be running fine. Still finishing off some minor bug fixes, will release with about a week.

The other program I am working on is still not quite ready, fixed a number of very big flaws recently. However I still don't have unicode support. Will release what I have very soon, but it won'y be untill the summer that I really get to work making this a true c++ program and remove all bash deps.... read more

FODB-Daemon Script

Hi All,
Trying to find a spear 5 minutes, to finish the daemon version of FODB, with multi-user support. Basic code is all in place, currently bug fixing and writing an install script. Hope to have something to release within two weeks.

Sorry for the slowness of this project. Hopefully will get the encryption program uploaded to soon, which took up most of by programming time last summer.

FODB Update

Hi All,
My exams are now over so I have started to develop FODB again. I am currently playing around with programing FODB as a system service which will start at boot up. So far I have concentrated on getting the scripts aware of users loged in, and setting up the run commands for the init script. I will post the new files to cvs as soon as possible

Project-Delay

Hi all,
I am currently into a major exam over load with 17 1/2 hrs of them in total at the moment. I will not be working on the project untill these are over in July. As you could prolly guess from my coding skills I am NOT an IT student, I am studying Molecular Genetics. During the summer I will completly rewrite fodb to be more effecient and get rid of the need to write txt files, by learning how to script with gawk.

V4.01 -- Released

Hi all,
I have released an updated version, of FODB stable which is currently on version 4. A few bug fixes have added to this release to over come some serious issues with FODB. All of these fixes have been available within the cvs tree for a week or so. The cvs module is called V4.
Development of the unstable version of FODB has been proceding at pace. The unstable tree does not have the some set of functions as V4, a new config file system is in the process of being created to allow for as many backups as you want to which ever directories you want. If you do want to check this out of cvs the module is called Development and the code is within th Unstable folder. Always read the change log as this will contain the most upto date information on the correct operation of FODB Unstable.... read more

Update

Hi All,
I have decided to freeze version 4 development and release the final version on 13th May, including some much needed updated Docs. I am now working hard on the development version of FODB (v5), I decided to add all the new features here since version 4 would need a big rewrite. Version 5 will be very different in all areas from version 4 and the core is already done. From now on I will release a weekly snapshot of FODB. Version 4 seems very stable, and does what its told. Hopefully version 5 will be coded better as a learn more and more.... read more

rc3 well on its way

Hi,
rc3 is well on its way, it should include alot of new features to make the software much more useful. Also a number of small bugs are now gone as well. I hope that by rc4 the new hardware detection code will be included. I will also update the docs for rc3, as alot of new features will need explaining.

Doc Re-write

Just to let you all know, I realise the documentation included within the FODB packages is out of date. I am working on a re-write at the moment. It should be available by the end of the week with the next version of FODB

Cygwin Support Added to rc1 build

Support for cygwin setups has been added, I added this feature as I use cygwin in windows XP, to share uni work between computers. The software is set to save to your hard disk and to drive b since most USB Floppy users will have the drive there. To change the drive to a change the variable fstabsda as explained in the install file.
The final version 4 build should allow you to spec the drive(s) you want to back up to on the command line.
A few other fixes are also included in this build, including removal of an error mesg.... read more
