I'm having trouble installing under Windows 2000
    from fobs4jmf_0.3pre2_installer.exe.  The install
appears to work OK up until I launch JMStudio
and try to add the class com.omnividea.media.parser.video.Parser to the list of demultiplexers.   I get the error message
"Could not add item".  (There might be more error message than this but I can't tell since it's in a dialogue box that isn't resizable.)
    Any suggestions?  I
have installed the latest JMF, run the diagnostic
applet OK, copied the fobs4jmf.dll to
    WINNT/SYSTEM32, and set my CLASSPATH
and PATH variables, and I'm running JMStudio
using the script that comes with Fobs4JMF.

And thanks - my colleagues use this under
    Linux, very useful.

      Hi Jean,

The installer package includes two ways of launching the Fobs JMStudio Player: through the item in the Start Menu (yes, yes... a start menu item should have been created ;) or using the script. Either way, the jmf.properties referenced contains all the required fobs class files so you shouldn't need to  add the Parser class by yourself.

Anyway, it kind of happened to me yesterday while trying the new renderer that it won't let me add the item if I was using a JMStudio which has been already used to play a movie. A quite crappy windows saying "Could not add item" would appear. Have you tried using a "new" JMStudio to change the configuration?!? It helped me to add the item in the end.

I haven't really tried Fobs in any Windows other than XP so there are maybe other issues I'm not aware. I'll check if I'm able to find some W2K user in my neighbourhood ;)

Hey, great that you colleages are using Fobs!! I'm really willing to hear from people' positive experiences.

      Cheers!

      OK, you're right - when I use your jmf.properties
all the classes are already added.  Unfortunately,
      my video still doesn't play.

I've tried the Linux binary because I'd been told
that works, and the video plays great, although
      there's an error:

Fobs4JMF - Native shared library found
      1469.88First Position:0, 0 Duration: 1469880
      OpenError: Not initialized
Could not load library jmutil native module
      java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: JMFSecurityManager: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no jmutil in java.library.path

on the other hand, on Windows 2000, the video doesn't work and all I get is

Fobs4JMF - Native shared library found
      1469.88First Position:0, 0 Duration: 1469880
      OpenError: Not initialized

Removing jmutil.dll doesn't help it play better.

The video is using the divx codec with a header
that says DIVX, not DX50. JMStudio's plugin
viewer shows Fobs Parser with NULL FFMPEG
Video Codec and AWT Renderer for both the
working Linux and the broken Windows.  I
thought from the jmutil behaviour that some codec
was getting in the way on windows, but then
the plugin viewer would report differently, wouldn't
it? Any suggestions?  Sorry, though - been on
the support side of this relationship before so
      I know this is hard.

I've now sorted out my problem - I get the
same error as before, but as long as I scale
down the video and make sure it's on a local
drive, it does actually play fine.  So it was just
a performance error.  Thanks for the software
      and for your earlier help!

      Jean
