right now, it appears that during each run of fmpp, the
log-file is wiped. It might be beneficial to be able to
compare two or more runs without having to manually
copy the previous fmpp.log away every time or playing
with the naming each time.

The typical use-case is that you run the session, and after that, especially
if there was warnings or errors, you look into the log file. So most probably
you do not want to page-down through log of the previous sessions. Do
you need this feature, or you mention it only for the sake of the
    consistency of fmpp?

No urgent need, but I guess it would be convenient if both
were available at the programmer discretion/choice

As of FMPP 0.9.0 this is supported with setting
    "appendLogFile".
