thank you.. i remember that thread (i started it). just was not sure whether it would work w/ 0.9.14 since there were changes in handling the key codes. btw: do you have an idea how to tell emerge (gentoo) that i want to use this patch before compilation? thanks. cheers, -- joe 2005/9/29, Andrey V. Mod4 w :WorkspaceNameDialog anyone got it working? is there any argument? is there any requirement?? any clue??? thx =3D) |

Very simple to fix... Dont use None Mod4 :RootMenu Think about it.. every time you hit Mod4 the menu IS going to open.. thats what you have put in your keys file, so to avoid the root menu opening when you hit Mod4 for another key combonation then simply dont use it as a stand alone to open the menu. hello, i am quite happy w/ the most recent (0.9.14) fluxbox version, mostly because that i can finally assign WinKey to RootMenu. however what is a downside of this function is that Mod4 M :ShowDesktop triggers the expected action (minimizes all desktop windows) but the RootMenu pops up as well. is there a way how to treat this behaviour? thank you. cheers, -- joe |

Hello I would like to start mozilla in workspace 10 so I've created the following entry in ~/.fluxbox/apps file: [startup] { mozilla -name mozilla_1 } [app] (mozilla_1) [Workspace] {9} [end] and unfortunately it always starts in workspace 1. xterm works with similar configuration [startup] { xterm -name xterm_1 } [app] (xterm_1) [Workspace] {9} [end] whats' wrong with my apps file ? I'm using fluxbox 0.9.13 thanx for help --------------------------------- Yahoo! for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. |

Thank you, Sami! I moved the line "xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap &" from ~/.xsession to ~/.fluxbox/startup just before exec /usr/X11R6/bin/fluxbox Now everything is working fine. The way with the acme tool I mentioned in my previous mail did work also, but was not flexible enough, as with acme one can not use modfiers (Alt, Ctrl, Meta etc.) for hotkeys, which I do a lot. So, thanks again! The gnome is setting the gnome saved settings and will thus overwrite the settings you set in the earlier point in the startup process. Hi Joaquim, The error is not fbsetbg itself, but the wallpaper setter that it is=20 calling. You can find out which by running: fbsetbg -i You can set a different one by using the -u option, e.g.: fbsetbg -u Esetroot (assuming you have Esetroot installed). Thought you probably just need to upgrade the one that's giving the error. I tried /etc/X11/xinit as well as ~/.xinitrc, neither did work. But thanks anyway, Stanislav. Meanwhile I could solve my problem by putting the line /usr/bin/acme > /dev/null 2>&1 & into ~/.fluxbox/startup. ACME is a small tool from GNOME for using the multimedia keys with linux.
