i performed these steps and feel like fluxbox has not been patched:

emerge --fetchonly fluxbox
cd /usr/portage/distfiles
tar -jxf fluxbox-0.9.13.tar.bz2
cd fluxbox-0.9.13.tar.bz2/src
patch < patch.diff
ebuild /usr/portage/x11-wm/fluxbox/fluxbox-0.9.14-r1.ebuild digest
emerge fluxbox

anything i've done wrong?

Currently I did not try to update my fluxbox, but I think
it should work with older patch.

[Fluxbox-users] does WorkspaceNameDialog work???

this feature would be much useful, as i dont use the mouse for amost
anything.. but it seems it doesn't work.... i used it this way in the
~/.fluxbox/keys file, where it set every other key bindings..

Mod4 w    :WorkspaceNameDialog

anyone got it working? is there any argument? is there any requirement??

Very simple to fix... Dont use None Mod4 :RootMenu
Think about it.. every time you hit Mod4 the menu IS going to open.. thats
what you have put in your keys file, so to avoid the root menu opening when
you hit Mod4 for another key combonation then simply dont use it as a stand
alone to open the menu.

i have no mozilla here, but firefox does not have an option -name.
i guess mozilla has no too.
you can match the application by other xproperties...

it would be usefull to read the fluxbox manual sections
APPS FILE and GROUPS FILE.

you can use "xprop WM_CLASS" to dertermine settings and use them
as mentioned in the manpage.

alternative:

setup your mozilla as you want, move it to workspace 10.

then right click on titlebar and use remember feature to save settings.
remember saves settings to apps file also.

Hello
I would like to start mozilla in workspace 10 so I've
created the following entry in ~/.fluxbox/apps file:

[startup] { mozilla -name mozilla_1 }
[app] (mozilla_1)
  [Workspace]  {9}
[end]

and unfortunately it always starts in workspace 1.
xterm works with similar configuration

[startup] { xterm -name xterm_1 }
[app] (xterm_1)
  [Workspace]  {9}
[end]

whats' wrong with my apps file ?
I'm using fluxbox 0.9.13

Thank you, Sami! I moved the line "xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap &" from
~/.xsession to ~/.fluxbox/startup just before

exec /usr/X11R6/bin/fluxbox

Now everything is working fine.

The way with the acme tool I mentioned in my previous mail did work
also, but was not flexible enough, as with acme one can not use modfiers
(Alt, Ctrl, Meta etc.) for hotkeys, which I do a lot.

Hi Joaquim,

The error is not fbsetbg itself, but the wallpaper setter that it is=20
calling. You can find out which by running:

fbsetbg -i

You can set a different one by using the -u option, e.g.:
fbsetbg -u Esetroot
(assuming you have Esetroot installed).

Thought you probably just need to upgrade the one that's giving the error.

I tried /etc/X11/xinit as well as ~/.xinitrc, neither did work. But
thanks anyway, Stanislav. Meanwhile I could solve my problem by putting
the line

	/usr/bin/acme > /dev/null 2>&1 &

into ~/.fluxbox/startup. ACME is a small tool from GNOME for using the
multimedia keys with linux.
