#245 Show list of windows when alt-tabbing

Old blackbox (using bbkeys) and also openbox show some "window" when alt-tabbing, which contains names and/or icons of windows ... so you press alt-tab once and if you see the desired window to be third in the list, you press tab three more times while still holding alt and you end up on the window. I think something like the current ClientMenu, though I have not figured how to use that menu for alt-tabbing (at least you can use arrows and enter :)

The current way (when alt-tab is pressed, it is just directly switched to next window) have disadvantage that you have to search which window activated if you have desktop cluttered with many small windows.

And my old hack (run old bbkeys so they'll provide alt-tabbing) isn't very reliable, many bbkeys/fluxbox version combinations end up with bbkeys segfaulting ...

I think adding some "alt-tabbing window" to fluxbox would be nice. Maybe borrow the code form other -box WMs?

Openbox has a nice alt+tab feature that looks quite nice.

    I totally agree with you.

Which window manager is it which doesn't... manage windows?... Let us have a window list instead of having to search through dozens of opened windows (and suffer from gtk windows refreshing when coming on focus, even when we don't need them...)

If this helps somebody, or the developers, I managed to setup sort of a window list, with changing the keys file Mod1 Tab section like this:

    Mod1 Tab:ClientMenu

but it still appears where the mouse cursor is, and you have to use arrow keys and enter to actually switch, plus, sometimes it doesn't get the focus so you have to end up using the mouse...

Yes, this is the ONLY feature fluxbox needs to be the perfect WM for me.
Bringing each window to front is slow and ugly !
Please, i really want this feature implemented.
    Thank you

Yes!!!! This is the only thing I really want as a new feature in fluxbox. In fact, after dealing with 10+ GIMP windows a few weeks ago, I started setting up KDE (gasp!) *just* so that I can have some clean alt-tab window switching interface.

I am searching for a features like this. I think it would make fluxbox almost .... perfect!

I agree. I love fluxbox but the lack of an alt-tab window list is a showstopper for my everyday use.

+1 for this request this is something that i really miss in fluxbox.

That feature is partially added via:
I wish that there was some indication of which windows were iconified and which are not.
