I just updated my computer with Ubuntu 12.04, and installed the default FGFS that is in their repo, also installed FGFS Launch Control. I tried to enable terrasync, but (I think) couldn't get that to work right - probably not set up right. There are a bunch of directory settings needed in Launch Control. Terrasync did seem to download the scenery tree into the directory I specified, but FGFS would crash when that directory was listed in the Launch Control FG_Scenery box. So, I downloaded some scenery .tgz files and unpacked them to /usr/share/games/flightgear/Scenery and everything seems to be set up the same as the default SF Bay tiles. But, FGFS doesn't seem to know these are there, I just see the blank terrain. Another really odd thing is that if you start FGFS with the Beech 1900D aircraft at a location where there is no scenery, the engines won't start. The autostart menu makes the gauges light up, but the engines are not running. At KSFO, they start just fine. If the aircraft is the Cessna 172, the engine is not affected by the location. Sorry for such newbie questions, but I couldn't find any info on these problems. Thanks, Jon |
