Well a lot of answers and some questions which I will try and answer. I can't recall the mingw problem. Since my focus was trying to use the M$ tool set, I only briefly dabbled. Maybe I should revisit it. Ah yes, my attitude toward windoze. Let's just say I'm being kind when I refer to the OS from the nether regions in this manner. I have absolutely no love for it. For just one example of how skittish I am with windows - I used the Borland C++ compiler a couple of years ago. Not a cheap product. Built a small program. Worked fine. Then I started my add-on for MSFS. Months of work wasted only to discover that there were serious flaws in networking and communication. I shifted over to wxWidgets and cygwin and everything went very smoothly. There's only one dll involved (the mingw.dll as I recall). I had given up last night on FG until I read my mail this morning. I don't easily give up on something that I think is worth doing, but this has been very difficult. I guess I've come to realize how spoiled I've been in the *nix world of development. Geoff - I will visit your page you sent. see if that helps. AFA 1.0.0 is concerned - I am confused on how to designate the version. I'm actually working on the CVS download (Is that what you call it?). So yes, I compiled the OSG. No problem. I am pretty sure my problem is either dll or registry related. I did get an error message pop up that said there was a failure in the msvcp90.dll. In the for what it worth department. I'll give it one more day here to see if any of the advice works out. And thank you for helping me out, folks. I really do appreciate it. Not being a windows based programmer, I had no idea how much goo I was going to be stepping in. -- Geoff McLean McLean Research Associates "To be good is not enough when you dream of being great." |
