I am running FlightGear on a Ubuntu Dell 1525n laptop with disappointing frame rates, having mostly run fg 1.0 but having recently dropped back to 0.9. I have turned everything obvious off in preferences.xml and/or used command line switches. I've shut off compiz. What else can I do to increase frame rate performance? I run using this script: #! /bin/bash /usr/games/fgfs --disable-anti-alias-hud --shading-flat --fog-fastest --disable-clouds --disable-random-objects --disable-textures --enable-hud --disable-hud-3d --disable-horizon-effect --shading-flat --visibility-miles=5 --aircraft=$1 I used to spend a lot of time in MSFS, but am trying to convert to FG as part of my total switch to Linux. I am wondering if all of the usual tricks from MSFS work, like searching out frame-rate friendly planes, ditching panels, etc. still work. Any recommendations? Disableing chase views, etc. using the Views pull-down in 1.0 didn't seem to buy me anything. I had to reload this machine, and when I went back to getDebs to pull the 1.0 build for Ubuntu again it was gone, so I am back to 0.9 until I get around to compiling it myself, unless someone has a pointer to one elsewhere.
