In the default C172p, in the pa24-250, and presumably in many other
aircraft, when the clickable hot-spots are highlighted (control-c),
the highlighting shows through the skin of the aircraft.
The problem is 100% reproducible chez moi, although the details
vary depending on the angle of view.

This problem affects some, but not all aircraft (e.g. not in the Hurricane IIb). I
deduce therefore that it is a transparency/object ordering issue. This is a matter
