On some of the instruments, when you type control-C
the hotspots flash yellow once, then disappear, and
are never seen again.
The expected behavior, as seen e.g. on the engine
control knobs, is that control-C toggles the visibility
of the yellow highlighting of the hotspots.
This bug seems to affect most of the avionics, but not
affect engine control knobs. It is easily observed in
the flagship C-172.
This is more important than it might at first seem, because
some of the hotspots are rather small and need to be hit
"just so" in order to correctly operate the instrument.

This is *not* a duplicate of issue 110. The symptoms were never
the same.
More importantly, the proof of the pudding is that the fix to
issue 110 did not fix this bug.
Specifically, I observed just now that in the flagship c172p,
the hotspots on all the avionics flash once and then vanish
forever.
This also affects /some/ of the instruments in other aircraft.
I observed just now in the C182rg that the hotspots on the
transponder code-setting knobs flash once then vanish forever.
Also FWIW I observe no visible hotspot at all on the gear lever
in the c182rg, not even a one-time flash ... even though the
lever can be moved by clicking on it.
This is observed on the "next" branch commit 92be000dbdfdff

I don't see this problem anymore, instead it works as it should. No vanishing of hotspots, on the c172p they are all visible.
The same for the c182rg.
Unless you gives us your systems specs like GPU and OS, so other with the same setting can check, I have the slight feeling that you didn't update properly you FGFS.

1) It is still not working chez moi. I still observe the avionics
hotspots flash once, then vanish forever.
2) My code version and data version have been updated quite recently.
If you think the dates in the attached barf are not recent enough,
please explain.

I found the cause inside osgViewer.
I'll fix this.
Thanks for the report.

Seems Mac specific. Is this fixed? Do we have a patch in git or is this an OSG problem?

Yes, I fixed this on 2.6.0 release.
If you want to build FG yourself on Mac, you need to apply the patches to fix this.
Visit the link below for the patches for 2.6.0:

I'm can't see which of these changes fixes the hotspot issue for Mac. Is the necessary patch in fg/git, or only in these patches? Can we close this for FG, or do we still need to apply any patch from Tat to Git?

The osg Cocoa viewer grabs all control key presses - for multi-button emulation on Mac. I suspect that's the issue here.
