Hi y'all, I have a problem with the combination of flickrfs and samba. I mounted flickrfs successfully to a directory "flickr" in my home directory. From my windows machine I can access this home-dir through samba. Now the problem is, that I can see all other files, directories and symlinks, but I cannot see the directory "flickr", which is the mountpoint for flickrfs. Anyone knows how to resolve this problem? I'd really appreciate the help! Cheers, Sebastian |

I am using flickrfs 1.3.9.1, libfuse2 2.5.3, and python 2.4.4. on an old/new debian system. I run flickrfs, it authenticates, begins to populate sets, then says "fuse: warning: buffer size too small: 4" and apparently hangs. I check the log and see many: 04/28/07 13:26:00 DEBUG Retry attempt 1 for func <bound method Flickrfs.__populate_set of <__main__.Flickrfs instance at 0xb7cdd54c>> 04/28/07 13:26:00 ERROR Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/flickrfs", line 101, in _log_exception_wrapper func(*args, **kw) File "/usr/bin/flickrfs", line 254, in __populate_set photosInSet = self.transfl.getPhotosFromPhotoset(set_id) File "/usr/share/pycentral/flickrfs/site-packages/flickrfs/transactions.py", line 358, in getPhotosFromPhotoset for p in rsp.photoset[0].photo: AttributeError: XMLNode instance has no attribute 'photo' I thought that it did not work. However if I copy a picture over it will upload it. Any further changes from the web site wont carry over. Any idea whats up? -- > ^ Chad B. `terbo' | (c) 2005-6 cbt ^ http://iago.nac.net/~terbo `waking up is the truest cruelty. i feel like a visitor' - music has its way with me. < |

Hello, I'm trying to install flickr-fs, and I'm running into a problem. In the archives I see it was reported to this list before (see http://tinyurl.com/2lbz9f ), but there was no solution given. I have fuse (2.6) installed, with the python language bindings, and flickr-fs 1.39, on an open SuSE 10.2 system. Running `python flickrfs.py ~/mypics` gives the following error message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "sources/flickrfs-1.3.9/flickrfs.py", line 1079, in <module> server = Flickrfs() File "sources/flickrfs-1.3.9/flickrfs.py", line 158, in __init__ log.info("flickrfs.py:Flickrfs:mountpoint: %s" % repr(self.mountpoint)) File "~/sources/fuse-py-d1e255d900e0/build/lib.linux-i686-2.5/fuse.py", line 754, in __getattr__ raise AttributeError, "Fuse instance has no attribute '%s'" % meth AttributeError: Fuse instance has no attribute 'mountpoint' This is my first experience with a FUSE fs, so I have no idea how to proceed. Thanks for any help. |

Hello - Installed: fuse 2.6.3 python-fuse d1e255d900e0 flickrfs 1.39 On Fedora Core 6. Got past a couple of issues that were keeping me from any progress (one related to Fuse and Python compatibility, syncing didn't start for about an hour after I mounted the fs, etc.) -- but don't see a /sets folder. I have /tags which has /personal,/public and I created /stream, but can't see any of the photos I had uploaded to flickr (in the last 24 hours were the first I've uploaded -- they are a private set). Am I missing something obvious? Happy to file a bug report as need be. Thanks, Steve |

Hi, I am using MacFuse 0.2.1 (http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/) and the latest FlickrFS from CVS (as of today). I am also using Python 2.4 and I am running Mac OS X 10.4.8 on an Intel MacBook Pro. I observe the same behaviour as everybody else (i.e. fusefs@0 on / Users/fpierfed/flickr (gave up on init handshake) and the Device not configured errors). Looking at the console, I see that Python does indeed crash while trying to mount the FS. Hope this helps Francesco From the shell shell> python flickrfs.py ~/flickr Authorizing with flickr... There are normally 2 ways by which sets (and stream) are populated. One is at the mount time, and second is when the sync kicks in, which occurs periodically every 5 mins or so. I assume that you're unable to view some of your pics even after 10-15 mins of the mount. Which means that even after couple of syncs, the pics you're interested in, are not being either shown, or retrieved from the flickr server. Its difficult to predict what could be causing that. Can you please attach and send me (personally) the log file located in ~/.flickrfs. -Manish On 2/17/07, Goran Zec <ze...@id...> wrote: > > On Saturday 17 February 2007 17:47:49 you wrote: > > What version of flickrfs are you using? > > The latest CVS version. 1.39 behaves exactly the same. > > ~zecg. > |

Does anyone know what might be the reason for this? There are about 100 photos (of 3441) that are missing from my stream, and the largest set (about 2700) only shows 900 or so. ~zecg. |

Hey all! After following the conversations here in the mailinglist i gave it a shot, and here's what i did: 1. Install MacFUSE using binary: http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/ 2. Install the FUSE Python bindings, as instructed on: http://blog.macos.fr/post/2007/01/18/GMailFS-for-Mac-OS-X 3. Installing links-ssl using fink: (used for authorizing the flickr api connection) # sudo apt-get install links-ssl 4. Changing ~/.flickrfs/config.txt to use browser:links instead of browser:/usr/bin/firefox 5. create directory to mount to: # sudo mkdir /flickr 6. set environment variable for old-style-py-bindings: # export FUSE_PYTHON_COMPAT=0.1 7. Start the actual filesystem: # sudo python /path/to/flickrfs.py /flickr I get, Authorizing flickr... (opening links, logging in, activating) Authorization complete. (and sometimes i get) Sets are being populated in the background. 8. Unmount it again: # sudo umount /flickr However, i got it to mount, but that doesn't mean i got it to work, because i get some fuse related errors, i guess, in the terminal: #fusefs@0 on /flickr (gave up on init handshake) and if i cd into /flickr i see nothing or sometimes (?) i get "Device not configured"-error or "Bad file descriptor"-error but i do see it listed when i "df -h", like this: flickrfs.py 0B 0B 0B 100% /flickr Well, that's as far as i got, just thought i would share it with the world ;) Any thoughts and ideas on what might be wrong? And where to begin to get further? Cheers! / Robert |

After some long time, I again had a chance to work upon my favourite filesystem after reiserfs, flickrfs<http://manishrjain.googlepages.com/flickrfs>. This release doesn't add nice cool features, this one is targeted towards robustness, resource utilization and efficiency. The previous versions of flickrfs had various issues, namely: - Slow internet connection, time-outs or other errors, would grind flickrfs to a halt; forbidding it to download information about sets, and stream. - If the number of images grow, in order of thousands, flickrfs would start consuming tons of RAM and eventually swap space; and would literally make my old thinkpad R40 crash. - Retrieval of full metadata information for each image was time and network resource consuming, and mostly not required. - Sometimes flickr response would return error, even if the uploading of image succeeds, making flickrfs generate false error report; and confusing the end-user, who would then end up uploading the same image twice. (confusing huh? ;-)) - For developers, a.k.a. me, flickrfs code was huge, all in one file, with lot of boilerplate code sections. This version v1.3.9 of flickrfs tackles all these issues (also see features list <http://manishrjain.googlepages.com/flickrfs#feature-list>): 1. Robustness - Flickr operations, as in, interactions with flickr server are now fail-safe. flickrfs handles the URLError exceptions thrown by the operation, checks its result, and retries the operation multiple times in case of failure. Thus, even if connection is lost temporarily, flickrfs would continue its operations unaffected. 2. Efficiency - flickrfs retrieves the sets information in parallel, background threads. Hence, the directory structure is created quickly, allowing users to start working. If some sets couldn't be retrieved the first time, they'd be taken care of when *syncing* kicks in. Secondly, full metadata information of images would only be retrieved when asked for; though they'll always be listed in the directory. Its just like the way flickrfs handles images. 3. Resource Saving - flickrfs would now store the image information in Berkeley db database, instead of storing it in memory. Let come millions of images, flickrfs would still consume only negligible amounts of RAM; regarding hard disk space, it would be in 10s of Megabytes; not an issue for today's computers. 4. Refactoring of code - Developers, again a.k.a. me, the code is now divided into 3 different files and... wait! hmm.. you shouldn't care about it. Just know that its more beautiful :-). So, just give it a whirl<https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=151995&package_id=220315&release_id=483298>. I'm sure you'd like it. Hey guys, While I'd surely like to look into these Mac issues, unfortunately I don't have access to a Mac book. So, I can only suggest the possible solutions, and you'd have to help me by trying them out. To tackle the error that is output here, try commenting out this line (or any other line which just log= s the activity going on in flickrfs), and run it again. Logging is just for informational purposes, and is not mandatory for functioning of flickrfs. -Manish On 1/28/07, Hans-G=F6ran Puke <han...@pu...> wrote: > > Jamila, > I am getting exactly the same error as you (I didn't get the one with > format_exc though, only the latter): > > Here is a printout of what I got: > > imac:~/flickrfs hanpu$ python flickrfs.py ../Flickr > Traceback (most recent call last): > File "flickrfs.py", line 1248, in ? > server =3D Flickrfs() > File "flickrfs.py", line 502, in __init__ > log.info("flickrfs.py:Flickrfs:mountpoint: %s" % repr(self.mountpoint > )) > File "/Users/hanpu/python/build/lib.darwin- > 8.8.0-Power_Macintosh-2.4/fuse.py", line 754, in __getattr__ > raise AttributeError, "Fuse instance has no attribute '%s'" % meth > AttributeError: Fuse instance has no attribute 'mountpoint' > > I think that we need a python guy to tell us what is going on here... > > 2007/1/27, Jamila Khan < lad...@gm...>: > > > > I saw the announcement, and I was able to use this set of > > instructions to get gmailfs working under osx, haven't gotten it > > working in finder yet, don't know why, but I'm having a lot more > > trouble trying to get flickrfs working, though I too would be quite > > excited to do so. > > > > http://blog.macos.fr/post/2007/01/18/GMailFS-for-Mac-OS-X > > > > So far I had problems with line 19 of flickrfs.py, it giving me > > errors with importing format_exc from traceback. I saw the announcement, and I was able to use this set of instructions to get gmailfs working under osx, haven't gotten it working in finder yet, don't know why, but I'm having a lot more trouble trying to get flickrfs working, though I too would be quite excited to do so. http://blog.macos.fr/post/2007/01/18/GMailFS-for-Mac-OS-X So far I had problems with line 19 of flickrfs.py, it giving me errors with importing format_exc from traceback. I changed all instances of 'format_exc' to 'format_exception', and those errors stopped. It also doesn't find firefox in /usr/bin (because osx doesn't put firefox there), and it doesn't seem to read my config.txt when I tell it where my browser is. At this point I'm getting this error: Leeloo:~/Desktop/fuse/flickrfs mila$ sudo python flickrfs.py ~/flickr Traceback (most recent call last): File "flickrfs.py", line 1248, in ? server = Flickrfs() File "flickrfs.py", line 502, in __init__ log.info("flickrfs.py:Flickrfs:mountpoint: %s" % repr (self.mountpoint)) File "/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.3/lib/ python2.3/site-packages/fuse.py", line 754, in __getattr__ raise AttributeError, "Fuse instance has no attribute '%s'" % meth AttributeError: Fuse instance has no attribute 'mountpoint' peace ladyiconoclast |

Hi! FUSE has just become available for Mac OSX users. This is great news to me, as I am a happy Mac user and would like to use my Mac to manage my photos o= n Flickr. So I downloaded the python-bindings and flickrfs and tried to get things to work. I failed however. Since I have never used Python before, I was wondering a) if anyone else on this list is in the process of getting flickrfs to run on the Mac, or b) how I can learn enough about Python and Flickrfs to understand what is going on, and why it doesn't work Thanks, Hans-G=F6ran Puke, Sweden |

Uploading images works just fine for me with this in place. diff -u -r1.7 flickrapi.py --- flickrapi.py 26 May 2006 01:13:41 -0000 1.7 +++ flickrapi.py 7 Dec 2006 13:42:21 -0000 @@ -357,7 +357,7 @@ jpegData = fp.read() fp.close() - postData = body.encode("utf_8") + jpegData + \ + postData = body.encode("utf_8") + jpegData + "\r\n" + \ ("--%s--" % (boundary)).encode("utf_8") Cheers, Dave |

Hi, I've just downloaded flickrfs from CVS and it works well, with one exception: I'm not able to upload photos. I added a couple of print commands to flickrapi.py and I can see that the XML response to the upload is: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <rsp stat="fail"> <err code="4" msg="Filesize was zero" /> </rsp> which then results in a traceback: AttributeError: XMLNode instance has no attribute 'photoid' This is puzzling, because I can see the JPEG data in the request body. Has anyone else seen this before? I'm seeing it on both small (<10KB) and large (200KB) image uploads. I'm really not a Python expert so I don't know quite where to look next. Also I see "fuse: warning: buffer size too small: 4" when first starting flickrfs. Is that related? thanks! Dave |

Hi all, Added some crucial bug fixes to cvs. Please update your client. Description of bugs: Bug#1: While adding images to sets, some images do not make it to the set + raise errors. Fix: The software now retries and adds the image to the set. Generally, after the retry, the image will be added to the set. In a bad scenario, you may end up with 2 same images uploaded to photostream, with one added to set, and the other not. In the worst case scenario, the image may just be there in the photostream, and not uploaded to set. Though the last two situations will only occur if the flickr server is having a really bad time keeping up with the load. Bug#2: Image resizing raises Value Error. Fix: fixed. would work fine now. -Manish |

Hi Kai TypeError: cannot concatenate 'str' and 'NoneType' objects This is a bug, which I cudn't/haven't fixed yet. As you noticed, the photos do get uploaded, but they're not added to the sets. Annoying! I just tried killing it and restarting it. More obscure messages: perry$ python flickrfs/flickrfs.py /home/hendry/f Authorizing with flickr... Authorization complete. fusermount: failed to access mountpoint /home/hendry/f: Permission denied fuse: reading device: Bad file descriptor perry$ ls -al f ls: f: Transport endpoint is not connected This is a problem with fuse, and not flickrfs. When you killed the process, fuse module was still being used, and hence generated errors. The way arnd is to use fusermount which shd automatically unmount flickrfs. This shd work, as the previous bug doesn't hang the software. Though it shows errors, its still handled by flickrfs internally. If you have to kill flickrfs, even then you can use fusermount, to decrease the use count of fuse. You can proceed then use 'rmmod fuse', followed by 'modprobe fuse'. A "bad file descriptor" message is generally occured by these causes 1. no read/write permission in /dev/fuse. 2. fuse not added as module to kernel (use modprobe) The easy way to check for these to be okay is to follow these commands and not get an error: $ sudo modprobe fuse $ sudo chmod 755 /usr/bin/fusermount $ sudo chmod u+s /usr/bin/fusermount $ sudo chmod 666 /dev/fuse flickrfs shd mount okay if these were fine. -Manish P.S. That error message says python can't find format_exc in the traceback module (from which it is trying to import it), so it looks like you aren't running python 2.4. flickrfs requires python 2.4. --David |

Hi, This is a weird error. Basically its not able to import a default library of python. Seems like a problem with python installation itself. You can try upgrading to / reinstalling python v2.4. You have any comments on this David? -Manish On 7/5/06, Eric Lemoine <eri...@gm...> wrote: > > Hi > > I'd like to give flickrfs a try but I'm hitting a problem. I'm really glad to see people liking flickrfs, and requesting it to be ported to windows. However, for now, I'm concentrating only upon FUSE based implementation and enriching flickrfs for linux. Currently, there is no pla= n of porting it to windows. There are quite a lot of windows based clients that you'd find useful though. =3D) Manish On 6/20/06, Bjorn Tore Hoem <bt...@ya...> wrote: > > I am sure you have gotten this question before many times, but I was > asking for a Flickr Drive on FD Toys on Flickr last weekend - they sent m= e > in your direction. > > Any plans to port FlickrFS to Windows?:-) > > Bj=F8rn Tore > > > Bj=F8rn Tore Hoem > Teigen 19 - 1407 Vinterbro > Mobil +47 92 88 27 84 > Privat +47 64 97 27 60 > ePost privat: bt...@ya... > ePost jobb: bt...@no... > Skype og MSN Messenger: bt...@ya... > --=20 Final Year, ABP School of Comp.
