There have been many times when I wanted to use a single word as a wiki link
[wiki] but I know that's not the standard convention.
Is there a reason why it's considered 'odd' as the formatting advice states?
Does that affect performance or cause any other issues in the long run?
Dont just search. Find. Check out the new MSN Search!

Because it means we can't automatically pick up the link any time the word
is used - you have to explicitly use the [link] syntax.

Not that I'm aware of other than what I described.
