what you should do is build whatever your product is with cross-architecture|cross-plaform in mind, and then provide packages native to each distribution. debian makes the latter half fairly easy and painless. But if your developers don't want to use Debian, that's their deal. well, as a development platform, installing the development environment and libraries you need is *really* easy on Debian. I don't know how easy on slack. that's the main thing I've got to say about it. from what a few people said on ##linux on freenode.
