That's because the graphics were rendered at 1280x960, so this is as good as it gets. I can add higher resolutions to the menu, but the graphics would not benefit from it at all, they would just be scaled up, and the performance would probably suffer.
However, I should probably improve the support for 16:9 screens, because resolutions such as 1600x900 and 1920x1080 would be an improvement over 1280x720. I'll look into it.
As a side note, some time ago I've started work a 3D version of FLAW, which would of course remove all limitations regarding screen resolutions. But I don't know if this will happen any time soon.

I've added a few additional widescreen resolutions in trunk. I can't test them though, because currently I don't have a monitor that supports these resolutions. The highest resolution for now is 1920x1080. This already scales up the graphics a little, so higher display resolutions won't improve the quality of the graphics.
