To see what's going on, start up a command prompt. From there, change directories to the one containing FLApp.bat. Then type in 'FLApp.bat' and see what message pops up.
I suspect you haven't got Java installed on your new machine. If you look in your install directory, is flands.jar listed as an Executable Jar File? If so, you should be able to start FLApp by double-clicking on that file.

Apologies for this reply's lateness; for some reason I'm not always seeing these posts.
Not to my knowledge… if you've been using an extra monitor, the coordinates of that window can get screwed up. An easy solution here is to edit the user.ini file and delete the three 'AdventureSheet' lines; next time you start the program the window will appear in its default position.

I have a similar problem as the original poster(Fabled Lands App version 1.0.4, with illustrations), the message displayed is "C:\Users\account_name\Desktop\FabledLands>java -jar flands.jar
'java.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file"
Now, this has been a a common problem on my computer since I enabled a few alternate language options, but that's neither here nor there, the real problem is when I work around this by running 'flands.jar' with Java (Version 6 update 34) it 'works', but doesn't show any of the books and any attempt to bring up something like the global map, quick rules, or original rules a little blank window with nothing in it pops up.
I've tried adding the whole path [C:\Users\etc..) to the .ini, but it doesn't do anything. Any help?

For your first problem, it sounds like you need to add Java to the Path variable (a list of directories that Windows looks through for executables). There are some instructions here: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/path.xml
e.g. on my computer, Path includes a link to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_13\bin\
For the second part, I'm not sure. If the jar is in the same directory as books.ini, book1.zip, etc. then it should work. I can try it on a Windows 7 machine tomorrow and see if something has changed…

My old version BigFLApp_104 work fine (windows 7). But new versions 1.05 and 1.06 not work. I start flands.jar but nothing happening. Repeat, v 1.04 work fine! Help, please!

Is there any reason why your adventure sheet wouldn't show up while playing on windows 7. I have that problem.

It seems that adding Java to the path variable fixed everything; Fabled Lands now displays the books, maps, and rules no problem.
Thank you jemann75 for the speedy solution.
