#140 Metadata not working with winamp media library

Paul W.

I am attempting to play FLAC files (Ecoded using EAC)
inside Winamp 5, with FLAC 1.1.1 and although the
playlist and title so the proper information from the
FLAC tags, the Media Playlist does not. Instead, it
attempts to decode the fields using the filename.

There are a few messages on HydrogenAudio which say
that the in_flac.dll version 1.0b7 worked fine with
winamp ML, however all versions after this seem to have
been broken. I am unable to find this version anywhere
on the net, so I am unable to confirm that version
works, however I'm quite certain it's broken with the
latest version.

I downloaded the FLAC 1.1.1 installer from the flac
website, and it kicked off the winamp 5 installation
for me, so I'm quite confident I'm using the latest of

Let me know if there are any follow-up questions!

I still need to get winamp5 and figure out how to get it
working with the media library. it's on the TODO for the
    next release.

I think the version of the plugin that did work was by
xfixer and I didn't get his code for it.

I've seen this too. I was using FLAC 1.1.1 or older. I've
just installed the FLAC 1.1.2 Frontend and things are
screwed up. WinAmp is not picking up the year tag. Well,
it is, it's displaying it in the place of the artist. It's
not picking up the artist tag at all.

    Ok, just confirmed it.

I took in_flac.dll from version 1.1.0m and copied it in to
WinAmp's plugins directory. I replaced the version 1.1.2
that was in there. Now WinAmp reads the tags properly. It
seems this isn't a problem at encode time, just the WinAmp

BTW, how come the DLLs don't have a VERSIONINFO entry in the
resources? It would be so much easier to help people if
there was an easy way to check the installed version of a DLL.

Not sure if this has been fixed, but we're not maintaining the winamp plugin anymore. Winamp has native support.
