Opening a .settings.fatjar file should walk you through the creation wizard to allow modification of the settings using the GUI. For me at least (an Eclipse newbie) opening the .settings.fatjar file shows me the XML in an edit window (which I never want to see.)

This is particularly important when there are multiple fatjar exports from a single project (since if there is only one, then redoing the Export... command does the right thing assuming the most recently edited .settings.fatjar file.)

Do I get to make a second request in the same message? There should be a "don't include source" option in the settings (for those whose source and target directories are the same.)

The requested functionality is available by right-clicking the settings.fatjar file in the Package-Explorer and selecting "build Fat-Jar".
By selecting "quick build Fat-Jar" the JAR is built without displaying the dialog.

About using the source dir as target dir:
This is not well supported. I recommend using separate source and classes folder this solves all ambiguities.

    Best regards,
