FITS utilities is a set of command-line tools, primarily created to simplify processing of DSLR images with IRIS (http://www.astrosurf.com/buil/iris-software.html).

IRIS, being a great astronomical image processing software, has some gotchas.

One of it is an initial import of DSLR RAW images: IRIS requires drag-n-drop operations, which are not available if one uses the software in a non-native environment (WINE, for example); it uses its own non-extendable library to handle RAW files; FITS header of resulting files is very incomplete.

So the Utilities were initially designed as a bridge between IRIS and other programs, however, they can be used as an independent set of tools.

Installation
Unzip and run FITS-Utils-setup.exe. The installer adds a path to FITS Utilities to user’s PATH environment variable (currently uninstaller does not remove it). After installation, you can use the utilities from Windows command-line.

To get a brief help for each tool simply start a tool without parameters.
