This is the wiki page for fitGCP, the tool for fitting Genome Coverage Profiles (GCP) with mixtures of probability distributions. Please refer to the README.txt for further information about the tool.

fitGCP requires the following software installed on your computer:
- python 2.7
- python-numpy 1.6.1
- python-scipy 0.10.1
- pysam 0.7 (incl. samtools)

Optional for plotting:
- python-matplotlib 1.1.0

The version numbers describe the test environment, on which fitGCP was developed. Other versions may work as well.

Installation on a Linux system should be possible without major problems. On Mac, pysam should be installed manually, e.g. using python setuptools (easy_install pysam). fitGCP should also be portable for Windows, but requires much more effort since samtools does not work out of the box on Windows.

We created a Virtual Machine with fitGCP preinstalled and preconfigured (use the download button below). You can find more information on the VM on the [fitGCP-VM] wiki page.
