#23 how to access gtm from c code

I'm considering using RTR or Tuxedo as a transactional
transport to the GTM code. What is the possible way to
access the M rutines from the C code? I thought on the
DAL library (passing simple command to X invoking my
driver/dispatcher routine in M) but DAL seems to be
missing from the distribution.

The DAL library is not currently available in the x86
GNU/Linux implementation of GT.M. It is only on the SUN
SPARC Solaris implementation, but we have only one GT.M for
UNIX manual. It is our intention to provide a way to call
from C to M some day soon, but that day has not arrived, and
funded projects keep pushing that day out. We hope that it
    will be released in 2003.

If you are using RTR, simply write one or more C functions
to receive messages from RTR, and call them from M, since M
    to C calls work.

Alternatively, you can write a simple protocol that
communicates over a TCP socket or named pipe (FIFO), start a
GT.M listener process that responds to requests from your C
    process.
