We're now testing the alpha version of Firework Version 2 on a number of websites. See http://www.wakeboard.com and http://www.wakeboard.co.uk for examples. With the advent of IBUYSPY, Rainbow and DotNetNuke we have decided to trim down the scope of Firework to focus on the hierarchical content management. Security, user registration etc is now offloaded to the parent application, Rainbow for example. Firework now becomes a high powered plugin that enables webmasters to provide great directories of info with the least hassle. We'll get the source available online soon.
Version 1.3 is now released. For an example of the software in use visit http://www.wakeboard.co.uk
We will now concentrate on bug fixes to the 1.x releases and working on the new C#, ASP.NET 2.0 release.
I've decided to make the current version of Firework available under the GPL. This current version is ASP based and works with both Sql Server and MySql. I'm just adding the GPL license and removing the wysiwyg editor before I upload the source. This will take a day or so out of the progression of Version 2 but it does mean people will be able to install something now.
We have now officially started the Open Source version of Firework, a content management system written in C# for the .Net platform.
Our first job is to port our existing Firework app (Plain ASP) into C#... let the coding begin.
