Before monkeying around with your system, try this, Tyler. As root, load the /etc/firestarter/firewall.sh into your favourite text editor. Find the line that reads: $IPT -A LD -j LOG and change it to read $IPT -A LD -j LOG --log-prefix "Checking logging: " --log-level INFO then restart FS either by the command /sbin/service firestarter restart or by starting and stopping it from the GUI, and then try scanning again to see if you get any hits.
