I want to speak with you about firestarter.
In my precedent mail, I ask you for a new features (pop
up when an appli want to connect to internet).
Unfortunatly it is not possible.
So I have an idea.
The goal is to make easier the way for allow some appli
to establish connexion.
I explain :
By default, the outbound is allowed for all pc of lan.
I prefer to have a restrctive policy.
So I have to open manually differents ports.
For exemple, If i want to allow internet surf, I have
to allow DNS and HTTP
You have the feature to do this automaticly.
You have too : POP3, SMTP, NTP, etc (the major application)
It is a good beginning but I think we can do better by
having a bigger list of protocol.
I don't know if you know guarddog (an other firewall
program) which have more protocol listed.
If you are interested I can help you to add more
protocol in firestarter (like guarddog have)
