I've got some programming skills although mostly in C and I don't use them regularly. I've taken enough Java to at least be able to read the Firemox source that I downloaded, but I am not familiar with modern environments. I've tried the standalone exe on Windows, and managed to get a few turns through playing two sessions against each other, although I always get a lockup at some point (perhaps not clicking things in the right order). I coded some decks from the computer game to test things out. I also tried following the install instructions for Eclipse, SVN, Maven, and although I can bring up Eclipse and see the code tree, I'm also getting lots of warning messages which seem to indicate I've not configured properly (like JRE vs JDK), and so I haven't been able to run Firemox under Eclipse. I'm guessing I could contribute as a tester, which is similar to stuff I do at work, since I can also track down code issues once I find misbehavior. The code looks very interesting, and similar as far as I can tell to an approach I thought would be interesting, however I can't really tell since it is so big at this point. I've also been somewhat unable to deduce what the state of the system looks like. Anyway, let me know if an old hacker with little time can help out.

      hello :)
help is always welcome. card bugs are easy to detect :p and new cards aren't hard to make... the problem is new features, those take a lot of work and code knowledge.

come to #firemox @ irc.efnet.org or add ricardo_barbano@hotmail.com to MSN messenger so i can help you put firemox on eclipse.
