I know embedded is not high security, but I want to prevent the normal user having write privileges, this is something embedded IS enforcing when you use user name on a connection. Just setting the ODBC option "read only" is not good enough as any Windows user knows how to get to this, however most if not all of my customers do not know SYSDBA and therefore the old way of giving a user name only SQL read (select) privileges worked perfectly. Hopefully FB 3 and/or Vulcan will improve on the security and give something similar to embedded what we have now with server. Sorry to be a pest on this. Werner |
