[Firebird-net-provider] Why does the provider not appear in the connect to database dialog ?

I'm new to .NET, so please be patient with me. 
 
I installed the .NET provider with the standard install routine, shipped
around the problem with the missing msvcr70.dll by copying it to the
windows/system32 directory and then wondered, how to use the firebird
provider to make a database connection in my demo vc++.net application.
 
Could someone please give me a hint, how to use the connection in vc++
projects? I'm using the visual studio 2003.
