Sorry if this is the wrong mailing list. I would like to connect to InterBase/Firebird remotely from Linux using C or C++. I am not sure if ODBC drivers are made for, or can be used in Linux. I have been familiar with ODBC drivers on Windows platforms, but I am not in a MS env, pure Linux. I have a dedicated DB server that I need to connect to from other machines on the network. Pretty much lan only, maybe internet at a later date. I have been using the JDBC driver, InterClient 2.0 for about a year now and it's great. However I am creating some apps in C/C++ not Java, so I need to figure out how to connect to InterBase/Firebird using C/C++. I was looking at the InterBase examples that come with IB 6.0, but they all seem to use isc_attach. Which I assume is for db residing on the same machine. Where my db will be on a remote machine. Not sure if their are differences in the way you connect to IB or Firebird. At the moment I am running IB 6.0, but would like to eventually switch over Firebird. So if there are differences I would like to be aware of them before I get to deep into writing my app. If this is the wrong list, if you could please tell me what list to use instead. Thank you. -- Sincerely, William L. Thomson Jr. Support Group Obsidian-Studios Inc. 439 Amber Way Petaluma, Ca. 94952 Phone 707.766.9509 Fax 707.766.8989 http://www.obsidian-studios.com |
