The support NG for Firebird (and Interbase) is egroups.ib-support.

There is only a command line utility included, and I usually use some of
the free tools: IB_SQL (www.ibobjects.com) or IBExpert - see
www.ibphoenix.com for a lot of info on tools (and a lot of other info).

Cannot answer this one - I use Delphi and IBO.

IBserver is the database engine.  IBguard starts (or will restart)
IBserver.
