Please read the release notes - there you have 40 pages of info, includin= g=20 links to documentation. I guess you need to start with the InterBase 6=20 beta documentation for now. ODBC drivers are external to the database and each will "do its own thing= "=20 WRT implementing the connection. You have to set up an ODBC=20 datasource. If you haven't done ODBC before and your ODBC driver softwar= e=20 doesn't provide doc, then you'll need to chase up the Microsoft docs. The Opguide volume of the docs tells you what the connection strings need= =20 to be for the two protocol options. As to "general usage", not sure what to tell you here. Best you follow=20 your instincts inside the manuals; if you don't already have an=20 interactive client program for db admin, get one (recommendations are in=20 the release notes); if you are not familiar with client/server databases= ,=20 you're probably going to need some books.... RLID (Read, learn and inwardly digest) all the site links in the release=20 notes. This is a highly supportive community with a lot of documentation= =20 that is frequently even more useful than the official documentation. Highly recommended (read "essential") is to join the ib-support=20 list. Again, the link is in the release notes. BTW, please note that the Firebird sourceforge lists (including this one)= =20 are NOT support lists. cheers, Helen All for Open and Open for All Firebird Open SQL Database =B7 http://firebirdsql.org =B7=20 http://users.tpg.com.au/helebor/ _______________________________________________________ |
