When the full set is installed, this index file and a PDF named 
2AllBooks.pdf are installed in a "root directory", with each individual 
book in its own subdirectory underneath this root...so when you run 
2AllBooks, it uses the .pdx file to know where to locate each book.

If you downloaded the books one-by-one, you won't have this.  You should be 
able to get it by downloading and installing the whole betadocs 
kit.  Alternatively, you can just open each book yourself, as required.
