After all this work does the underlying engine at least allow for the option to

I got a bit stuck as well as I'm used to simply hitting the drop-downs on the 
old site and going STRAIGHT to the area I need. At least three steps are needed 
now to get there. So why can't THAT simply functionality be retained?

At the moment on the whole I'd prefer to maintain access to the old layout. The 
functionality lost is more of a problem to me than the 'nice new style'.
