In the Firebird 2.5 Release Notes (RC-2, page 61) there is an example for the new string literal syntax for hex (which is a great new feature because it opens the door to including binary data within a plain-text SQL script): select x'deadbeef' from rdb$database; The "deadbeef" thing is funny, but it took me a while to realize that this was about hex. When you run this example, you get Þ¾ï which is hard to check for correctness. May I suggest another example? select x'4669726562697264' from rdb$database; will deliver the well known word "Firebird". Maybe that can be added to the deadbeef example as a second column? select x'deadbeef', x'4669726562697264' from rdb$database; Best Regards Stefan |
