Thanks for taking a look at this.

I looked at that section of sqltypes.h also.
My biggest concern was the case where

SIZEOF_LONG was not defined to be 8
(even though it should be with g++ 4 on linux with -m64).

In that case, SQLINTEGER has 8 bytes. And I assume this is
bad.

I'm going to keep plugging away at this and, if successful,
I'll report back to the list. I'll also submit any patches
if necessary.
