Can you reproduce the problem with 'select * from employee' from the 
employee database? I just tried and the date is returned without problem. 
Admittedly the employee database only uses the TIMESTAMP data type.

You could (and probably should) build the driver from source. 

  o Check out the code from cvs.
    (Be sure to use the B2_0_0 tag)

  o cd to /path/to/checkedoutcode/Builds/Gcc.lin

  o type at command prompt:
      make -f makefile.linux all install

That will give you build 149 which has all the bug fixes committed since 
RC1. It will also guarantee that the build is fully compatible with the 
host environment.
