You just substitute things. If decided to improve some part
of engine it must be improved generically - if it has no other
objections. If tomorrow I'll (or you) want to create table
"ofigenno_dlinnoe_nazavanie_on_russian" (or migrate such
DB from Access etc) - it's better to full support such marasms.

Or you see any difference between UTF varchar(64) and
UTF varchar(128) ?
