Agreed. Perhaps even restarting Firebird in between. 

I would also suggest running the tests say, five times, and taking an average. 
It is reasonable to assume that under most usage scenarios that some or all of 
the data will already be in the cache anyway.

It might also be interesting (and very quick to verify) to just reverse the 
order of the tests. On the evidence presented it looks like the second test is 
benefiting from the cache created by the first test.
