It's only one dll in this scenario.
I'm using the embedded server for notebook-installations in this way.
It acts as a server for a local copy of a part of the main database if
it is not connected to the local network.
Otherwise it acts as a client to the main server.
I don't know whether this will work against a 5.6 server though.
