I had to spoil isql so much that I'm afraid I will be the first one to say that this change shouldn't be merged into FB v1. Maybe I could include the changed files and the Win32 binary in my site or in my personal sub-tree inside the interbase/firebird directory. I'm not looking for a way to have the "public" (the users plus other developers) to pressure for more changes that are features instead of bug fixes in FB 1.0. I'm trying to know if people consider this hack useful or not. I've maintained in ib-support and ib-architect that "decoding" a full script is a task for the client side, not for the engine. I'm trying to keep in sync with my own claims: I modified isql to see what would happen. Ignacio, I appreciate your interest, but I have to say that the feature has been tested only a couple of times with my own scripts. It would be irresponsible to push this change into the official FB's isql v1. What if for some reason people end up with an unusable isql when doing some tasks due to crashes? C. |
