I am having challenges with the new Firebird ODBC driver version 1.2.
The ODBC driver encrypts the password stored in the registry when the
ODBC entry is created in the Windows ODBC administrator.
The problem then is how do you then decrypt the encrypted password in
the registry back to the original password for use in the FBConnection
connection string. I am using RegistryKey class to access the ODBC in
This problem does not appear to be covered in any Firebird or ODBC
documentation that I can find.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
PS. I am writing a Visual Basic program using MS Visual Studio 2002. It
uses Firebird NET data provider version 1.7a with the Firebird 1.5
database/classic server and Firebird ODBC 184.108.40.206 and NET Framework
