Thanks for the confirmation, I have been reading the list before but did not find any hint on that. Please excuse the ignorance. I tried my best but did not find any place from where I can get the version 2.02 or the source code. What can I do to find/get it, please? So far, I have only very limited experience with using open source code and compiling it myself. > This bug is fixed in CVS - > http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/ODBC-151 > On 11.10.2012 16:14, André Knappstein wrote: >> On a quite bare Win-8 system, 64-Bit, I can register a new DSN for the >> built-in SQL server ODBC driver, but not for the Firebird driver. >> >> As soon as I select the driver, the ODBC administrator will crash. >> >> I did not have any problems up to Win7 so far. >> Do you have an idea where I could start searching? >> >> On which CPP-Version is the driver built? On a quite bare Win-8 system, 64-Bit, I can register a new DSN for the built-in SQL server ODBC driver, but not for the Firebird driver. As soon as I select the driver, the ODBC administrator will crash. I did not have any problems up to Win7 so far. Do you have an idea where I could start searching? On which CPP-Version is the driver built? Maybe I did something wrong in installing the required CPP runtimes. thanks! mit freundlichen Grüßen, André Knappstein EDV und Controlling ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ beta Eigenheim- und Grundstücksverwertungsgesellschaft mbH Hafenweg 4 59192 Bergkamen-Rünthe Telefon: +49 2389 9240 140 Telefax: +49 2389 9240 150 e-mail: kna...@be... Hey guys... I'm using the Mac 64 bit driver and trying to retrieve the results row count for basic fetch. The code I'm using works with other ODBC drivers, including MySQL and SQLite (yes, there's an ODBC driver for that...) However, in Firebird it always returns -1. Here's the code, for what it's worth. if (!SQL_SUCCEEDED(SQLRowCount(odbcStmt, (SQLLEN *)&rowCount))) { rowCount = 0; } Note that the driver is returning -1, not an error. Any ideas on why this might happen? |

Looking over the various mail lists, I don't see any successes building on MacOS. The last thread on the topic was from 2006, and contacting the author via email I learned he never got it working. So I'm trying it. I was able to get considerably further than Brian through a few basic edits... 1) there is no FIREBIRD envar on the Mac, so all of the make machinery that relies on it fails. -- I manually edited makefile.enviorn to set the FBINCDIR and FBLIBDIR "manually". The examples of manual setting at the top don't work if you put them up there, because the code below will override this change, so you have to set these farther into the body of the make. 2) Firebird's header dir is (obviously) not in PATH or anything similar, so ibase and iberror aren't found -- this is true even if you, as suggested in 2006, move them into the local header directory. However, a few minor edits from <ibase.h> to "ibase.h" solved this problem. -- It would seem that placing these files in Headers as part of the SF code base would be a good idea? 3) OdbcConnection.cpp includes "InfoItems.h", which doesn't work -- I changed this to "IscDbc/InfoItems.h" and it works. Why this doesn't cause problems on other platforms suggests that there's yet another envar that's "covering" for what appears to be a bug. With those changes I was able to compile through to the end. Unfortunately, the linker then had problems: ld: warning: directory not found for option '-L-lcrypt' ld: library not found for -lodbcinst I assume these are what I believe them to be... libcrypt.a and some part of unixodbc that I'm guessing handles the .ini files. So, can anyone provide me with: 1) a *complete* list of the prerequisite libs? 2) advice on how to include these into a Mac build? I really don't want to end up playing a game of whack-a-mole as each new missing dependancy pops up. |

I am running a Firebird database system on Server 2008 R2, Firebird 2.0.x and the matching 64-bit version of iODBC that was provided with the Firebird install. Everything is running 64-bit, including Excel. I have set up a system DSN to connect to the Firebird database. This works perfectly in various "mini-GUIs" like MS Query. I simply select the DSN, type in a query, and up comes my data. However, when I try the same from within VBA using ADODB, it fails. The error is the generic "Automation Error", which is kicked back from practically everything from security problems to network failures, so it's of little use in debugging. So here's my question: is ADODB 64-bit in any version? I have selected the "ADO Data Access 6.0" library, but I can't imagine a way to tell what word size it uses. |

Hi all, I saw this post a while back and thought I would post for others what I found to help... I was having the same problem (blank char/varchar fields) - unfortunately using a linked server wasn't an option for me as you can't use 32bit drivers (like the old ODBC driver) for linked servers on 64bit SQL Server. I found a work around at the link below, basically to summarise - on your data source, set the error output for each problem column to be 'redirect row'. Then add a multicast to your dataflow and connect your error output (red arrow) to the multicast (you will get a warning if you don't handle the errors). http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1254262-364-2.aspx http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1254262-364-2.aspx A bit strange why this works, but it does. I didn't actually have any errors to be handled. Also I note text fields (as opposed to char/varchar) seem to migrate fine without needing the redirection option. -- View this message in context: http://firebird.1100200.n4.nabble.com/SSIS-ODBC-ISSUE-tp3497997p4524946.html Sent from the firebird-odbc-devel mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

I have seen this bug on the gmane results for firebird I don't know if is fixed already in the driver https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45881 The driver uses the C/C++ dataype "long" for the SQL datatype "Integer" and for ODBC C type identifier SQL_C_SLONG. It should use the ODBC C typedef of SQLINTEGER for that, which depending on platforms will be "int" or "long" or even (theoretically) something else. Integer / SQL_INTEGER / SQL_C_SLONG / SQLINTEGER is a 32 bit integer. On Windows (32 bit or 64 bit), long == int == 32 bit integer, so one can use "long" or "int" interchangeably and the bug does not appear. On most modern 32 bit Unices, long == int == 32 bit integer, so again the bug does not appear. On most modern 64 bit Unices, int == 32 bit integer and long == 64 bit integer, so not the same one => need to use the right one. |

Dear firebird helpers I've just installed firebird the for the first time using (on Windows 7 64 bit Dell) Firebird-2.5.1.26351_1_x64.exe Firebird_ODBC_2.0.0.151_x64.exe flamerobin-0.9.2-1-setup.exe All installations OK can I can see the demonstration 'EMPLOYEES' database in Flamerobin - all looks very promising Now I would like to set up an ODBC connection so my target users can see data via Microsoft Excel. In Control Panel-ODBC Data Source Administrator I have added a System DSN "Employees" for the employees database and the "Test connection" button indicates "Connection Successful!". Works for both SYSDBA account and also for a second account I have set up. Very happy so far! Next if fire up a blank Excel 2007 workbook and attempt to connect using: 1. Data - From Other Sources (Ribbon) - Data connection wizard - ODBC DSN - but nothing listed for firebird so go back and try... 2.other/advanced - perhaps Microsoft OLE DB Simple Provider ???? - no signs there either 3.Data - From Other Sources (Ribbon) - Microsoft Query - New data source - select Firebird/Interbase(r) driver - Connect - enter USER and passwork (SYSDBA and masterkey) and get a message "! file is not a valid database" Any suggestions greatly appreciated Regards Mark Perhaps use |

Thanks. That dll works with Alpha Five v11. On 1/20/2012 at 6:57 AM, Alexander Potapchenko <ale...@gm...> wrote: On 20.01.2012 14:24, Bob Taylor wrote: Hi Alexander. I am on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, so I am using the 64-bit ODBC driver. Can you create a 64-bit dll that I can test? Thanks. AFAIK, Alpha Five v11 is an 32-bit application and it can use 32-bit ODBC driver (odbcfb.dll) only. You must replace 32-bit odbcfb.dll in the directory C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64 . -- Alexander Potapchenko Team leader LASP Technologies, http://www.lasptech.ru |
