Without any further clue, it's hard to guess. Is the database queried
for SPs? Do you see the query (TraceAPI, Output log, ...)?

There are no messages in the Error window.
The only thing in the Output window is:
Generated model file: TRS11Model.edmx.
Loading metadata from the database took 00:00:00.5293632.
Generating the model took 00:00:20.3206378.

I previously created an Entity Framework model for a Firebird 2.5 database in Visual Studio 2012 Professional. At the time, I imported the tables only, and not the stored procedures. Now, I need to access some of my stored procedures. I right-click on the .edmx diagram, and selected "Update Model from Database". On the "Add" tab, it correctly shows me the list of stored procedures in the database. I select the ones I want and click "Finish". The output window shows the following: Generated model file: TRS11Model.edmx. Loading metadata from the database took 00:00:00.3591910. Generating the model took 00:00:18.1822456. However, it doesn't seem like it did anything. I can't find anything about the stored procedures in the diagram. Also, if I go to "Update Model...", and go to the "Refresh" tab, the stored procedures section is empty. If I right-click on the diagram and select "Add New->Function Import", the "Stored Procedure / Function Name" combo box is empty. I have been using Firebird for a long time, but I am very new at ADO.NETand Entity Framework, so I think I must be just missing something. What might I be doing wrong? -Joe |

However what he tries to convey is not that the problem is that you have .NET 4.5 installed, but instead the problem is that you are trying to use the .NET 4.5 version of the Firebird .NET provider under .NET 4.0. So make sure you install the .NET 4.0 version of the .NET provider, specifically: http://sourceforge.net/projects/firebird/files/firebird-net-provider/3.0.2/NETProvider-3.0.2.0-NET40.7z/download (the MSI installer is as far as I understand only .NET 4.5)! When you have Firebird table with field of double type and want to use ObjectContext's method CreateDatabase(), (using CreateDatabaseScript() internally), its generating bad script output internally and throwing exception.
Example of current output (its throwing "Token unknown - line 10, column 27 NOT"):
RECREATE TABLE "ITEMS" (
"ID" BIGINT NOT NULL,
...
"AMOUNT" DOUBLE NOT NULL,
...
);
Should be:
RECREATE TABLE "ITEMS" (
"ID" BIGINT NOT NULL,
...
"AMOUNT" DOUBLE PRECISION NOT NULL,

);

Is a NuGet package with Firebird Embedded something the Firebird community would not want ownership of? I can create an unofficial package and upload it to NuGet on my own if that is preferred. Assemblies build with 'Any CPU' as the processor architecture may be run on both 32bit (x86) and 64bit (AMD64) environments however this may cause issues as the current Firebird ADO.NET provider only searches the root. To address this if the program could first search in a processor architecture folder for the fbembed.dll. You can use the PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE environmental variable to determine what architecture is used (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa384274.aspx).
