[Firebird-net-provider] Using MS VS.NET with Firebird Net Provider

Hello,

I've been using the Firebird NetProvider programatically and it works 
fine.  I'm just wondering though -- how do I make it appear under the 
"Server Explorer's Data Connections"?  When I right click that treeview 
item, I get the "Data Link Properties" dialog box which lists several 
OLE DB Providers and the native SQL Server Connection tab.  How do I 
"register" the Firebird NetProvider on this dialog box (assuming its 
possible)?

and mono.

[Firebird-net-provider] Performance tests

Hello:

I´m making a port of the Open Source Database Benchmark project
( http://osdb.sourceforge.net/ ) to C# using ADO.NET providers for
accessing databases, at this moment i have finished the port of the
Single User Tests, i send a file attaced to this email with the results
of the test, there are 3 test that fails, one of them try to drop some
indexes and firebird raises an exception :

	unsuccessful metadata update
	object INDEX is in use

the other two fails trying to create indexes that needes to be drooped
in the first test that fails, i will try to ask in firebird devel list
about this issue.

The test was made using Firebird 1.5 Alpha 5 in Windows 2000, when i
have the Multi User test ported to C# i will send the results to the 
list too and probably i will try to run the test on linux using mono.

I am getting the following error when at this line of code:

oAdapter.Update(oDS, sTableName)

An unhandled exception of type 'System.FormatException' occurred in
system.data.dll

Additional information: Input string was not in a correct format.

Any ideas?  I can include more code if necessary.

You have added a reference to :

	FirebirdSql.Data.Firebird.dll <-- This don't have reference to NUnit

or to:

	FirebirdSql.Data.Firebird.Tests.dll <-- This have reference to NUnit

FirebirdSql.Data.Firebird.dll in my project failed because of a =
dependency on NUnit.  This should not be a requirement because won't =
that require the deployment of NUnit in addition to the Firebird =
provider dll with an application.

OK fixed, but are you sure that is problem is here, i think this is not 
the problem because database is initialized to String.Empty.

I downloaded beta1 version of .Net provider and have problem
connecting to database. Every time a specify connection string like
"Database=C;\acc2.gdb;User=SYSDBA;Password=masterkey"

i am getting exception.

I looked in source code for ParseConnectionString method and i think
there is a bug there which prevent me from connecting

This should be "db", not "database"

Ok, but i think the only way for see this is on Firebird Sources, i´m 
interested on add some things to the C# GDS implementation, but my 
knowledge of C/C++ is not great and as i know firebird protocol is 
undocumented :(

Hello Dave,

I'm also new to VS.NET.  Can you clarify what you meant by the last 
statement -- "Then, you'll find a few new components in your toolbox..."?

I was able to get the FB.NET provider working properly by manually 
entering it in the References section of my project and typing the 
appropriate code.  But how do I make it appear on my toolbox as you implied?

  Hi,

  The Firebird.NET provider is a .NET provider, not an OLE-DB provider. 
You'll
  have to set a reference to the Firebird assemblies, and use the Firebird
  namespaces. Then, you'll find a few new components in your toolbox...

The version is bad on this changes.txt file, the last version is the 
Alpha 4 yo can get it from:
