Even using Server.HtmlEncode on the text I want to insert into a varchar field I get this error everytime the text has an accent (ex: é,á) or a & or a ' or a " (probably more that i didn't test) Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: FirebirdSql.Data.INGDS.GDSException: Exception of type FirebirdSql.Data.INGDS.GDSException was thrown. I'm using firebird 1.5 rc5 and .net provider 1.1 for .net framework 1.0 Do I need to create fields with a special charset and collate? Thanks |

Hello: > When will this version be available? When the new was available in the CVS :) > Will the derive parameters method work with selectable stored procedures? Humm n first place i'm going to add always te "execute procedure" string at the begining of the CommandText, and the CommandType needs to be always StoredProcedure, but after derive parameters you can changethe CommandText and CommandType properties, i have asked some time ago in the list to add stored procedure calls as in SqlServer, but only Alan MacDonald answer to it :) and i have left the idea -- Best regards Carlos Guzmán Álvarez Vigo-Spain |

Hello: > Yes that's exactly what I want to do :) Thanks, finally i have implmented it in 1.5 version, an example: FbConnection connection = new FbConnection(connectionString); connection.Open(); FbCommandBuilder builder = new FbCommandBuilder(); FbCommand command = new FbCommand("GETVARCHARFIELD", connection); command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; FbCommandBuilder.DeriveParameters(command); Console.WriteLine("Derived Parameters"); for (int i = 0; i < command.Parameters.Count; i++) { Console.WriteLine("Parameter name: {0}\tParameter Source Column:{1}\tDirection:{2}", command.Parameters[i].ParameterName, command.Parameters[i].SourceColumn, command.Parameters[i].Direction); } connection.Close(); The resulting command text ( that will be auto generated ) is: execute procedure GETVARCHARFIELD(@ID) -- Best regards Carlos Guzmán Álvarez Vigo-Spain |

Hello again, Now that I've got a stored procedure to fill a DataSet I've moved onto deriving the parameters for a stored procedure. I've got a stored procedure that has two input and two output parameters. The only way I've managed to derive the parameters is using the following code... FbTransaction transaction = connection.BeginTransaction(); FbCommand cmd = new FbCommand("execute procedure test_derive(?,?)", connection, transaction); cmd.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure; FbCommandBuilder.DeriveParameters(cmd); Ideally I would like to be able to derive the parameters without having to know anything about the parameters in advance, this is possible with the SQL Server and Oracle data providers but I can't find a way to do it using Firebird. Hello: > FbCommand command = new FbCommand( > "SELECT P_POLICYID, P_POLICY FROM usp_pmi_GetPolicyList", > connection, > connection.BeginTransaction()); > command.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure; You don't need to set the CommandType to CommandType.StoredProcedure in this case, because what you are really executing is a SELECT statement, try removing it and tell the results :) -- Best regards Carlos Guzmán Álvarez Vigo-Spain |

Hi, I've been looking at Firebird and the .net provider for a couple of days, everything was going fine until I tried to return multiple rows from a stored procedure. Here is the code for the procedure... SET TERM ^ ; ALTER PROCEDURE USP_PMI_GETPOLICYLIST RETURNS ( P_POLICYID NUMERIC(18,0), P_POLICY VARCHAR(250)) AS begin FOR SELECT POLICYID, POLICY FROM pmi_policy INTO :P_POLICYID, :P_POLICY DO suspend; end ^ SET TERM ; ^ When I run the procedure from within IB Expert with... select P_POLICYID, P_POLICY from usp_pmi_getpolicylist I get six rows displayed. However when I execute the stored procedure using... FbConnection connection = new FbConnection(mConnectionString); connection.Open(); FbCommand command = new FbCommand( "SELECT P_POLICYID, P_POLICY FROM usp_pmi_GetPolicyList", connection, connection.BeginTransaction()); command.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure; FbDataAdapter da = new FbDataAdapter(command); DataSet ds = new DataSet(); da.Fill(ds); connection.Close(); I get the exception "multiple rows in singleton select" Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks Rod. |

Huummm i think it's better to make this in a Dispose method implementing IDisposable interface, i was with the same problem some time ago in the .NET provider for release resources allocated for statements :) , check the status of the m_connection.IscConnection.db object, checking the state of sockets and streams, if it's the same problem as i have this will be no valid. -- Best regards Carlos Guzmán Álvarez Vigo-Spain |

Hi all, I am using 1.1 Alpha 2 - .NET 1.0 I have a single connection that I keep using during all the application. It is a class that creates the connection the first time it is required and in the override of the System.object.Finalize method I close the connection: ~myconnectionclass() { if (m_Connection != null) { if (m_Connection.State == ConnectionState.Open ) { m_Connection.Close(); } m_Connection = null; } } But sometimes, although the connection is not null and is ConnectionState.Open when it arrives to m_Connection.Close it throws an exception: An unhandled exception of type 'System.NotSupportedException' occurred in mscorlib.dll Additional information: Stream does not support writing. What am I doing wrong?? Regards, Jesus |

Hello, I have a .Net application. The connection string used is - "User=SYSDBA;Password=masterkey;DataSource=localhost;Port=3050;Database=C:\Test.gdb;Dialect=3;Charset=None;Connection lifetime=30;Pooling=true;" When i run the application, sometimes i get the error - "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached." I am bit confused with connection lifetime and pooling. Whether its good practice to include pooling=true. if yes, then what should be the lifetime? If i drop the pooling i.e. pooling=false, what effect will be there on the performance of the application? i.e if i don't use the pooling at all, then will it be harmfull? Thanx in advance for any help. Regards, Ghanshyam. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com |

Hello, I am trying to use the embeded version of Firebird and am unable to connect to it. I have done the following: 1. I made a copy of the the following support files in the application directory: /my_app/app.exe /my_app/gds32.dll /my_app/firebird.conf /my_app/fb/firebird.msg /my_app/fb/intl/fbintl.dll /my_app/fb/udf/fbudf.dll 2. I also put a copy of the same, in the same directory as: FirebirdSql.Data.Firebird.dll 3. I removed the reference to local host, but when i try to conect i keep getting the msg 'Unable to conect to Local host' Can I get a detailed procedure on how to go about this problem. Thank you.
