Well, I don't want to change your current plans :-)

I'll look at the sample app to see usage. I need to run stored procedure
that returns value (with ExecuteNonSql) and some selectable stored
procedure. I saw some methods used for parameters creation are returning
IDataParameters instead of FbParameters.... why?

In first place it's working, i'm using it in the sample app, but i
haven't made deep testing on it, i need to review two things on it, if
you are going to use it i can review it yet :).

what are plans for the FbHelper class? Are there known issues?
I would like to use it in a brand new project I will start in a few days.
This project is a bit critical (there are about 24 millions records) so I
would like to go for the most stable way... :)

If you are using 1.5 version of the .net provider you can do that, you 
can execute stored procs only with the sp name as the 
FbCommand.CommandText, if it's a stored proc that return rows you can 
make a call to FbCommand.ExecuteReader and if it's a stored proc that 
performs inserts, updates or deletes you can call 
FbCommand.ExecuteNonQuery ( the provider will add the SELECT * or the 
EXECUTE PROCEDURE depending the FbCommand method you are calling )

Hi, im have some select stored procedures (retrieve rows) and others no 
select (Inser, update, delete) the problem is when i call select procedures 
because I need to do this select * from spSelect.
I need to call in in the same way the select and no select stored procedures 
in my .net aplication.  How can I get that, if it possible, with .net 
firebird provider?

Hola, tengo procedimientos almacenados de seleccion (devuelven filas) y 
otros que no son de seleccion (Insertar, actualizar, eliminar).  El problema 
es que en firebird para llamar a un procedimiento que devuelve filas o 
registros debos anteponer el select * from al procedimiento (spSeleccion), 
pero en mi aplicacion .net necesito llamar de la misma forma a los 
procedimientos de seleccion y no seleccion de la misma manera, como en 
sqlserver, como puedo hacer esto con el proveedor .net de firebird?

Yes, this can be made using a new overload of the

FbConnection.BeginTransaction method, it's another option.

Could you possibly consider adding such functionality

The change is added to the CVS, i have tagged the prior sources as 
'NP_1_5_Pre_Beta_2',
i will try to do some tests later today (the nunit test suites is 
executed ok)

Are there any plans to add capabilities for finer
control of the tpb to the components?  In the 1.5 Beta
1 sources (couldn't use anonymous CVS at all, even on
the CVS web browser) it is clear that neither the
"isc_tpb_write" nor the "isc_tpb_wait" parameters'
inclusion can be controlled.  The addition of such
functionality would be very useful and could enable
developers to create better quality Firebird
applications with your excellent components.

[Firebird-net-provider] Backing up on a File in client computer

How can I backup firebird database on a file and place it in the client
computer instead of the server
or as well as the server.

Is it possible, to make the  Paths of backup files which are relative to the
server, redirected
on the client for backup and restore purposes?

Can you send a test case ?? The stored procedure name needs to match 
exactly with sp name in the database ( parameter information is 
extracted from database metadata )

and collation information is sent in the sqlsubtype, but first i want to know opinions :)

I think this is interesting, because it would allow to match Firebird, that allow different 
charsets for each field, what do you think ??.

The following code always returns only one row (previously was working
correctly):

I have made the test, the only way i have found to create an sp with a 
name like SelectData for example is makeing the name to be queted, if 
not the sp name will be uppercased always, at least in my tests, an example:

CREATE PROCEDURE "SelectData"
RETURNS (
     INT_FIELD INTEGER,
     VARCHAR_FIELD VARCHAR(100),
     DECIMAL_FIELD DECIMAL(15,2))
AS
begin
     SELECT INT_FIELD, VARCHAR_FIELD, DECIMAL_FIELD FROM TEST_TABLE_01 
WHERE INT_FIELD = 2 INTO :INT_FIELD, :VARCHAR_FIELD, :DECIMAL_FIELD;
     suspend;
end

This sp needs to be executed as ( but quoted names will not wok with 
DeriveParameters at this moment i will try to make anything for allow 
this to be made ):

FbCommand command = new FbCommand("\"SelectData\"", connection);
command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;

FbCommandBuilder.DeriveParameters(command);

FbDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader();
reader.Close();

Probably because the Read method makes a fetch and there are no 
resultset created in the server for this type of command ;)
