Actual result: 
Engine Code: 335544726 
Engine Message: Error reading data from the connection. 
See: ADONETConnectionPoolingERROR.png 

Expected Result: 
The Connection Pooling should be automatically restored when any disconnection occurs between requests;


Steps to reproduce the issue: 
1- Open a  FirebirdSQL Connection Pooling (ADO.NET) using the ADO.NET Provider v.4.6.0.0 (Reference: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8xx3tyca(v=vs.100).aspx) and do a Data request: The data is received without any issue;
2- Interupt the FirebirdSQL Server (net stop FirebirdServerDefaultInstance) and restart it  (net start FirebirdServerDefaultInstance);
3- Try to request any other data from the Database using the same FirebirdSQL Connection Pooling open before.

Additional Information: 
This issue did not happen when using the previous ADO.NET Provider v.4.5.2.0.

You could use FbConnection.ClearPool rather than ClearAllPools().
Anyhow if the server restarted there is possibility of bronek connections
in other pools.

I get this error too from time to time.

When using pooling, after the firebird server is restarted it's immposible
to establish a new connection to the serwer.
Probably the provider pulls a bad connection from the pool and tries to use
it despite its being broken.

It's simple. Don't do it. You're mixing binary data with string. Depending on LE or BE system you might get different result.

System.Guid.ToString is not the same as select uuid_to_char (guid).

Of if you want to do more fancy solution you should wrap all the FbXxx classes into wrappers. That's how other layers work (profilers, O/Rs, ...).

We d'like to monitor performance (time to execute) for every statement.

We have a lot of code which use only base ADO.NET access to database. 
With this change we can find "performance killers" in this code more 
easly including parameters and plan.

That is the main reason for this request.

Hi all,

can we make "frontend"  classes for FbNetProvider  (primarly 
FbConnecton, FbTransaction, FbCommand) not sealed ??
This will be handy for performance monitoring of applications 
(especially Execute* functions in FBCommand).

What do you think ?

I you'll like this this changes, i can prepare pull request on GitHub.

Even the previous version was cleaning up the pool. It's up to server what it does with connections based on shutdown type specified.
